About Risk Management

The University’s approach to risk management ensures that risks and opportunities are identified, assessed and managed in a structured and timely way, supporting the achievement of our strategic objectives. By aligning risk management with our Strategic Plan, we strengthen decision-making, prioritisation and accountability across the institution.

Our framework follows recognised best practice, including international standards such as ISO 31000:2018 and ISO Guide 31073:2022, as well as sector guidance and regulatory requirements set by the Office for Students. This ensures we maintain effective governance, oversight and sustainability in all our operations.

Risk is understood as the effect of uncertainty on objectives — encompassing both potential threats and opportunities. Through a clear risk appetite and a comprehensive framework of policies, processes and responsibilities, we promote a balanced approach that supports both stability and innovation.
