If the information you want to access is personal and relates to you, you should submit a subject access request (SAR).
This enables you to receive a copy of your data and to check that we are lawfully processing it.
The University receives a high volume of subject access requests in three broad areas:
- Examinations and assessments
- Student applications
- General staff and student matters
Examination and Assessments
If the information you want to access is relates to your performance in examinations and assessments sat during academic year 2025/2026, please direct your request to the exam board. The Exam board will be able to provide:
- Question level marks (where held)
- Examiners’ comments (where held)
- Records of the reconciliation process (where held)
Please note that examination scripts are exempted from the general right of access under the DPA2018/UK GDPR (see Schedule 2, Part 4, Paragraph 25(1) of the Data Protection Act 2018). However, departments may have their own disclosure policies in respect of examination scripts in accordance with the University’s Exam and Assessments framework (section 12.7.2).

Student applications
Data related to Post-graduate applications:
Please note that any comments/marks made against applications are not made for the purposes of feedback to the applicant. These comments/marks are made at the discretion of the admissions assessor(s) concerned to aid them in the administration of the application assessment process. As such it may not include significant details of value to you as feedback. As above, this will vary from course to course. If you are a successful applicant, you may receive more complete feedback by reaching out to your tutor(s)/supervisor(s)/department directly.
Additionally, please also note that departments are afforded considerable autonomy when processing postgraduate applications. This means that the information received by applicants to different courses can vary.
Data related to Undergraduate applications:
If you are seeking feedback on your undergraduate application, colleges are responsible for admitting undergraduate students and the college to which you applied will be better able to advise you on the reasons for the decision taken on your application. Guidance on how to obtain feedback from the college is available here. If you wish to obtain a copy of the information that the college holds on the assessment of your application, as opposed to more general feedback, you will need to submit a subject access request to the college. As co-ordinator of the admissions process, the University will hold only a limited amount of data, which may consist only of your test score, interview score and the personal details contained in your application. Some test scores are released automatically to candidates. Further information on test scores is available here.
